Lux Jewels Canada
Lab-Grown Engagement Rings — Canada's Full Collection
Lab-grown engagement rings are chemically identical to mined diamond rings. They're grown in a lab using HPHT or CVD technology, certified by IGI, and available at 70-90% less than natural diamond prices. Every ring in this collection is IGI-certified and available for custom modification.
I'm Suman Smith, founder of Lux Jewels, and I've been designing lab-grown rings in Canada since 2007. I became the first Canadian jeweller to specialize exclusively in lab-grown stones in 2015 - over a decade before the national chains started adding lab-grown collections to their display cases. Every design here is available in a custom version. If you don't see what you're looking for, book a free consultation and we'll start from scratch.

Shop by Shape - Find Your Ring
The shape of the centre stone is usually the first decision. Here's the full collection broken down by shape, with what makes each one work.
Oval Lab-Grown Engagement Rings
Oval is the most requested shape we work with right now. The elongated silhouette makes the stone appear larger per carat than a round, which means more visual impact at the same price point. Oval lab-grown diamonds in E-F colour are one of the best-value choices in any budget.
Emerald Cut Lab-Grown Engagement Rings
Emerald cut produces a hall-of-mirrors effect through its rectangular step-cut facets. It's the most architecturally distinctive shape we work with. Clarity grade matters most here - VS1 or better recommended, since the open facets make inclusions more visible.
Round Brilliant Lab-Grown Engagement Rings
Round brilliant is the classic for a reason: the 58 facets are engineered to maximize light return. It's the most forgiving shape for slightly lower colour or clarity grades because the brilliant-cut style scatters inclusions and colour. An excellent-cut round lab-grown diamond in G/VS1 is one of the most beautiful stones you can put in a ring.

Halo and Hidden Halo Lab-Grown Engagement Rings
A halo setting places a frame of accent diamonds around the centre stone, adding perimeter sparkle and creating the appearance of a significantly larger stone. A hidden halo places those accent stones beneath the girdle of the centre stone - subtle from above, visible from the side in the right light.
Vintage-Inspired Lab-Grown Engagement Rings
Milgrain detailing, filigree bands, and settings that reference the 1920s-1930s aesthetic. Vintage-inspired designs pair especially well with oval, pear, and cushion cut lab-grown diamonds.

Pear Lab-Grown Engagement Rings
Pear is a teardrop shape - a hybrid of the round and marquise. It's elongating on the finger and produces excellent brilliance. Most commonly worn with the point facing outward. Lab-grown pear diamonds in the 1-2ct range are one of the better carat-per-dollar options in the collection.
Cushion Cut Lab-Grown Engagement Rings
Cushion cut has rounded corners and a pillow-like profile. Older cushion cuts (sometimes called "antique" or "old mine") have fewer facets and a different light pattern than modern cushions. Both work well with lab-grown stones. Cushion cut lab-grown diamonds pair naturally with a pave band.
Radiant Cut Lab-Grown Engagement Rings
Radiant cut combines the shape of an emerald cut with the brilliance of a round - rectangular outline, brilliant-cut facets underneath. It hides inclusions better than emerald cut and shows more fire. A good choice if you want the rectangular silhouette without the strict clarity requirement of emerald cut.
Solitaire Lab-Grown Engagement Rings
One stone, one band, no distractions. Solitaire settings work with every shape. The design puts all the focus on the stone grade and cut quality, which is exactly where it belongs with a lab-grown diamond you've sourced with an IGI report in hand.
Shop by Metal
All lab-grown engagement rings in the collection are available in the following metals:
| Metal | Description |
|---|---|
| 14K Yellow Gold | Classic warmth. The most common metal for engagement rings. |
| 14K White Gold | Clean, bright setting that enhances colourless stones. Rhodium plated. |
| 14K Rose Gold | Warm, romantic tone. Works especially well with oval and pear stones. |
| 18K Yellow Gold | Higher gold content than 14K. Slightly richer colour. |
| 18K White Gold | Higher purity than 14K, with rhodium plating. |
| Platinum 950 | The densest option. Naturally white, hypoallergenic, doesn't require replating. |
All gold settings use repurposed gold (99.5% previously refined). Metal choice affects price: platinum costs more than 18K gold, which costs more than 14K.

Why Lux Jewels for Lab-Grown Engagement Rings?
I built Lux Jewels in 2007 because the jewellery industry in Canada wasn't giving buyers what they needed: straight answers, transparent pricing, and access to high-quality stones without a showroom markup. In 2015, I made the switch to lab-grown diamonds exclusively - well before the national chains started taking lab-grown seriously. That's over a decade of focused experience with lab-grown stones that most competitors simply don't have.
What you get at Lux Jewels:
- Every stone comes with an IGI grading certificate and laser girdle inscription you can verify
- No in-person requirement - the entire process (consultation, CAD review, stone approval, delivery) happens online via Zoom or Google Meet
- Canada-wide reach: couples in every province work with me without needing to live near a major jewellery district
- The same design process whether your budget is C$1,500 or C$15,000
